The Fully Informed Jury Association
As described on their home page http://www.fija.org/,
-
- ... FIJA is a non-profit educational association whose mission is to inform all Americans about their rights, powers and responsibilities when serving as trial jurors. FIJA also seeks to restore the political function of the jury as the final check and balance on the American system of government. It is supported by tax-deductible contributions and foundation grants.
A central point of FIJA is that a trial by jury is an evaluation of both fact and law. In other words, it is within the power of the jury to disregard the instructions of a judge and aquit someone factually in violation of an unjust law.
