TRX is a form of suspension training that involves the use of body weight exercises in order to develop strength, balance and core stability at the same time. A good TRX routine for beginners using the TRX Suspension Trainer device is called the TRX Plank. This is a preparatory exercise that keeps the body balanced, contracted and aligned and is an effective preparation for other exercises in the TRX system.

It is performed as follows:

• Place the TRX straps at mid-calf on your legs and then lay on your stomach facing away from the anchor point of the suspension trainer and put your toes into its foot cradles.

• Drive your heels back into the suspension handles while squeezing your calves, glutes, quads, hamstrings and core and press your body into a flat plank shape.

• Hold this for as long as possible, for a maximum of 30 seconds, and repeat this for three sets.
