The Harley Sportster motorcycle is a customized line of bikes made continuously by Harley-Davidson since 1957. Sportster models were first designated by starting with “XL”. In 1952, the first successors to the Sportster, the XL Sport Solo bikes, were introduced.

Harley-Davidson sportsters have many innovations over the older model motorcycles. One of these new innovations is the electric start. Electric start motorcycles had been introduced earlier on the market but they were not popular due to their price and poor performance. However, with the improvement of the electric motorcycle engine, these bikes became favorites among younger motorcycle riders. Other innovative features of the Harley sportster include an adjustable saddle height, a sport bar, sporty dash, and a tail lamp.
Today, these bikes have more advanced features and parts, such as air tanks, chrome covers, sporty dash, and oil tank bags.
