The Internet of Things (IoT) promises technologies that will revolutionize the way we live our lives. Analyzing data from a huge range of objects in our physical world will provide as yet undreamed of applications. IoT technology relies on the following to enable it:

• Wireless Technology – IoT enabled objects must have persistent (24/7/365) access to the network to be able to support their state. Pervasive wireless and cellphone 5G as well as LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Networks) are essential enabling technologies.

• The Cloud – the massive amount of data that will be generated as more and more devices join the IoT network requires huge storage which cloud solutions are well placed to supply.

• Applications – we haven’t even begun to see the effects of the IoT revolution in terns if the applications of this technology. Imagine being able to control traffic lights to optimize flow for rush hour or even an individual car or even chain all self-driving cars together to act as a train going at 200mph.
