If you’re visiting Europe and plan on car rental Brussels is a convenient base from which to explore much of the continent. Belgium has an excellent network of roads, linking the main cities of Brussels, Antwerp and Bruges and the country’s small size makes it practical to use Brussels as a base for sightseeing. The cities of Paris and Amsterdam are also only a few hours away by car, as are Cologne and Luxembourg. Brussels airport is the country’s main airport and has most of the larger car rental companies represented; as well as several local companies. As the airport is relatively compact it’s easy to get your car and be on the road quickly after landing there. There are no tolls on most of the roads in Belgium and in general, roads are in good condition with plenty of facilities for drivers.
