When it comes to getting a job in education, most people assume that they will become teachers. It’s important to note, however, that there are several different and diverse career paths available to individuals who are interested in educational services. Becoming a teacher is one way to be an educator, but there are other options, too.
Administrators are in high demand, for example. Usually these positions are filled by former teachers, but not always. People can specialize in educational administration and earn a degree in that specific field. This might include managing schools, beginning new schools, or designing curriculum and procedures within districts.
There are also paraprofessionals who serve important roles. Aides and assistants are valuable team members in and out of the classroom. There are positions in facilities management and counseling. Executive assistants are always needed as well as specific subject area coaches in fields like reading and science.
