The last stage of the entire menopause process is known as the post menopause, and it occurs when it’s been at least a year since having a period. Although many women find it a relief to not have to put up with ‘that time of the month again’ it does come with some discomfort, and these post menopause symptoms are clues that you’ve reached this stage. Unwanted weight gain, often due to hormonal changes, is one of the most common signs of the post menopause, and insomnia is also common too. There’s a higher risk of developing a urinary tract infection, because of lower estrogen levels, and that reduced level also means more vaginal dryness and itching, and sometimes discharge. Hot flashes and incontinence can be less common symptoms, and postmenopausal women also have a higher risk of developing high blood pressure and osteoporosis.
