Efficient kitchen storage can be challenging, especially in a small space. The two key things to remember when storing items are to maximize space as much as possible, and ensure items are accessible. Appliances and utensils that just aren’t used a lot should can be stored in another area of the house. And if you are redesigning your kitchen and looking at storage solutions, it’s a good opportunity to get rid of items that are never used, including plastic lids that have no containers, mismatched or broken dishes and plates, and mugs and cups that nobody actually drinks from. For some creative storage solutions, hang items behind cabinet doors, install a metal rail over the counter to hang utensils from, or suspend them from the ceiling. Consider adding an extra shelf to some of your cabinets, and don’t forget to use that often wasted space above the fridge.
