Hair accessories in a toddler’s hair must be carefully constructed to protect the impatient, curious, and playful child. Hair barrettes for toddlers must be constructed of soft materials, don’t pinch, or pull the hair, and cannot be easily pulled or fall off.
They should also be playful and reflect the beauty of your child. The barrette should stay on with the first application and not have to be refastened. Use hair accessories that do not have loosely flying pieces attached. If they have sparkly rhinestones or crystals attached, make sure they are solidly secure and cannot be picked off and stuck into the mouth of your child.
Most importantly, always remove hair barrettes before bedtime. It is possible for a hair accessory to cause harm to a child while sleeping. It could slide down the neck and pose a hazard to the child.
