Learning through electronic devices, known as elearning, has become the most used form of training in corporate settings. Designing elearning courses can be a complex and time consuming task and is composed of the following:

• Conduct thorough research so that the information presented is up-to-date and accurate.
• Analyze the target audience so that it is clear what level of information is presented and determine the best instructional methods for them.
• Create an overall design for the course that includes its objectives and how assessment is carried out when completed.
• Create a prototype for the course, test it and encourage feedback from stakeholders.
• Write a script for the course and create storyboards for each component.
• Create relevant supporting media such as images and video.
• Use a course authoring tool to assemble the elements.
• Review the course for its adherence to learning objectives.
• Test a pilot course to ensure it is meeting its goals.
• Roll out the course and evaluate it for effectiveness and return on investment.
