A marriage certificate NSW is a document that is an official copy of a marriage registration held by the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. It can be used to establish a person’s identity.

Before a marriage certificate can be issued a marriage must be registered. This is done by a civil or religious marriage celebrant who will submit the documents on an applicant’s behalf to enable registration. For marriages that occurred within NSW an applicant can apply online, in person at a service centre or through the post. Once a certificate has been issued it will be sent by registered post. Note that the marriage certificate cannot be collected from a service centre. When a person applies for a standard marriage certificate they are also given the option to purchase a commemorative certificate to keep as a memento of the happy occasion.
