There are dozens of Costa Rica tours offered by various companies, but one of the most popular is to the country’s Monteverde region. It’s an area of tropical rain forest and exotic wildlife, and there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, ziplining and bird watching. A highlight of any visit here is the many suspension bridges that allow visitors to have the unique perspective of walking above the forest. It’s about 87 miles from the country’s capital of San Jose, so it’s possible to visit the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve in a day, although tours giving you several days there are also popular. Some tours offer optional area excursions such as a tour of a local coffee plantation, a visit to the butterfly gardens, a trip to the orchid garden, or time spent in the town of Santa Elena, known for its cheese production.
