The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Louvre Museum should be on your list if it’s your first trip to Paris. However, the city has so much more to see and do, and if time allows, these other sights shouldn’t be missed. Two other museums definitely worth your time are the Pompidou Center, showcasing modern art, and the Musee d’Orsay, with its Impressionist collection. Quintessential Paris experiences include a stroll along the Champs Elysees, one of Europe’s great shopping streets, a view of the city from a boat trip on the Seine, and a visit to one of the city’s elegant 19th century department stores, such as Galeries Lafayette. Don’t forget to have a drink or snack at one of the many pavement cafes or bistros. Some Paris neighbourhoods worth a visit include Montmartre with its artistic associations, and the exclusive shopping arcades around the Opera House.
