Prevention is better than cure. Businesses that wish to remain open must keep their premises safe for their customers. This means adhering to the safety protocols regarding hand hygiene, masking, and social distancing. Many are taking this further by hiring security guards for screening COVID-19.
Guards can take temperatures using forehead thermometers or other equipment. This is not as good as actual COVID testing but it’s a good way to find symptomatic individuals who also happen to be the most infectious. Only those with normal body temperatures will be allowed to go inside.
Guards can also remind people to put on their masks or to wear these properly. They can tell customers about new policies to ensure compliance. They can maintain order in case individuals force their way in or threaten the safety of others. They can answer questions that are within their competence.
