Teaching English as a second language online means you, the English speaker will be instructing children or adults whose native language is quite different from English. This will require you to have a good grasp of the English language and its pronunciation and its meaning.
You’ll have to teach your non-English speaking students to speak the language. You’ll need to focus on pronunciation and grouping words together so that the student can see progress in their learning. Learning a phrase like, “Good morning. How are you?”, help to instill confidence.
Start out with particularly useful words, like the names of common foods, activities, or furnishings in the home. This will make the language less foreign and more familiar feeling. Get your students to repeat phrases they’ve learned days or weeks before and have a common English greeting repeated each time you meet that they can become familiar with as well.
