The TRX (Total Resistance Exercises) system, developed by a former US Navy SEAL Randy Hetrick, is a training workout that uses a special form of suspension training to exercise muscles. This form of suspension training incorporates exercises that use a person’s body weight to develop strength, flexibility, balance and core stability in one routine.

The system uses the TRX Suspension Trainer which is a device that helps people to use gravity and their body weight to complete a set of exercises. Supporters of the TRX workout techniques say that it can help people to improve mobility and stability, build muscle mass, improve metabolic rates and develop overall body strength. Advocates say that it is a program that is particularly effective for runners, cyclists and others that need to develop endurance. Critics, however, point out that it can be potentially risky for people that are starting out in improving their fitness through exercise.
