What is Headshot Photography? In a nutshell, a headshot photograph is a portrait photograph of a person with a specific focus being on the individual’s face. The photo itself comprises the front subject, beginning from their head down to shoulders, using their chosen scenery as a background. Many people use the picture to highlight a particular trait or characteristic of that person, often personality traits we tend to like. For instance, some people may take a photo of someone’s face and then use it to highlight some distinctive feature, such as their eye color or the smile lines around their eyes.

Most photographers will advise you to set the aperture to manual mode and keep your background light by pointing the camera at the wall instead of at the subject. Taking headshot photography, in order, will mean that you are more in tune with your subjects and can capture a much more accurate image.
