Although perhaps not an obvious vacation destination there are plenty of things to do in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam’s largest city. Any first time visitor should take in the French colonial architecture, the many vibrant street markets and the several war museums. Several companies offer cruises on the Saigon River, which is a chance to escape the busy streets and get an overview of the city. Another spectacular view of the city can be enjoyed from the Sky Deck at the top of the 262 meter tall Bitexco Financial Tower. One of the best of the many markets is Ben Thanh, which is a great place to buy souvenirs, locally made crafts and some authentic Vietnamese street food. Temples can be found all over the city; one of the most visited is Cao Dai Temple, which is dedicated to several different religions.
